Check if a FiveM server is down
Stop guessing: in two seconds see whether a FiveM server is down, full or private, and which client errors get mistaken for outages.
Why "connect and see" costs you time
The usual way to tell if a server is down is trying to connect and waiting for the error. With a queue or a slow link you can lose minutes on something answerable in two seconds: the server is not responding. Worse, sometimes the fault is on your side (client version, stale server list), not the server.
What "down" means and what it does not
- Down: no response to connection. Usually a scheduled restart, host crash or maintenance. Seconds to hours.
- Full: responds but accepts no more players. Not down; there is a queue or a slot later.
- Private: responds but requires a password or whitelist. Intentional.
- Client error: outdated FiveM, modified GTA V or antivirus blocking. The server is fine.
Checking status on FivePulse (no account)
- Open the search and paste the server name or
cfx.re/join/…code. - Look at the signal: green responds, grey no response, with a timestamp of the last answer.
- Look at players now: 0 for hours can be an outage or simply an empty server.
- Check the history: recent outages separate a one-off restart from an unstable server.
If your server does not appear in the search, it is probably new or private: its page is created as soon as the server answers the public FiveM list.
If the server is down, what to do
- Wait for the restart: most restart at fixed times; the history shows the pattern.
- Check the server's Discord: maintenance announcements are almost always posted there.
- Do not retry every 10 seconds: if it is truly down, insistence does not connect you sooner.
- Rule out your own machine: open another server; if it connects, the problem was the first one.
Client errors that look like outages
- "Could not connect" after a patch: FiveM is pending an update. Restart the client.
- Empty or stale server list: force a list refresh or connect directly by code.
- Failed to load resources: usually a server asset, not your connection; wait or report on their Discord.

Frequently asked questions
How do I check if a FiveM server is down?
Paste its name or cfx.re code into FivePulse: you see response status, current players and recent outages, without an account.
Does a full server mean it is down?
No. Full means it reached its player maximum; it responds but accepts no more. Down means no response.
How often do FiveM servers restart?
Depends on the server: many restart daily at fixed times. Each server's history on FivePulse shows the pattern.
Can I tell whether the outage is the server or my connection?
Open a known working server; if it connects fine, the outage was on the server you tried.
Do private servers appear on FivePulse?
Private servers that answer the public FiveM list do appear; fully hidden ones generate no page.
Next step: check any server before joining.
